The heat wave covering the weekend's activities like a blanket did not deter thousands of New Yorkers from visiting Governor's Island to enjoy locally-prepared barbeque. Seeking shade whenever possible, visitors devoured pork belly bites from Brooklyn's Umi Nom, pulled pork shoulder tacos from Jimmy's No. 43, unbelievable salad greens of every variety fresh off Brooklyn Grange's new rooftop farm in the Navy Yard, and more; all was washed down with Six Point brews and topped off with ice cream sandwiches. There were also a kimchi-eating contest and kimchi-making demonstration, a hot-dog cook-off, seed bombs from Just Food, and live music!
